- Pick your project (so you know how many colors you need!)
- Find your photo
- Open Microsoft Publisher or Powerpoint (so you can easily drag your colors/photo to it - Word works, you'll just have to copy/paste your photos)
- Drag your photo from the internet to Publisher.
- Using an arrow tool, draw an arrow to 3-6 colors in your photo. In the sample, I used 5: Dark Pink, Light Pink, White/Cream, Blue, and Green.
- Open a website that sells the yarn you'd like to use and look for colors that are similar to each of the colors the arrows are pointing at.
- If your pattern requires more colors, find variations of each color (darker or lighter versions)
- If your pattern requires less colors, close your eyes for a second. When you open them, pick the top 3 colors you see. In my photo, green is not really that noticeable, so it can be cut out without losing much of the same feel as the photo.
